Trust God
Worrying is being troubled or distressed about something that is likely to result in unfavourable expectations. It is a natural tendency that sets in as a reaction to the uncertainties or variableness in our world. It is noteworthy that many of the issues we get anxious about are usually beyond our control. However, there is no problem or challenge that we envisage that God cannot handle and cause to favour us. Most importantly, God’s covenant with His children can never be broken. He has promised beforehand to care and provide for all our needs no matter what the case maybe. Therefore, our responsibility is to dwell on God’s word and expect Him to fulfil His covenant of provision for us. We must always trust in God and not worry, no matter what happens.
As believers, rather than worry, we ought to trust in God. Below are some reasons why:
1. Worrying does not solve the problem; instead it compounds the problem and leads to confusion. Proverbs 19:8, Matthew 6:27.
2. Worrying is proof that you don’t trust God to come through for you.
3. Worrying does not change God’s mind, plan or position.
4. God cannot lie. Every promise he has made to you is for an appointed time
5. God’s covenant with us is one of divine provision.
Worrying serves no positive purpose. It is akin to paying interest in advance for a debt you will never owe. It shows fear not faith. For a Christian, it is totally unnecessary. Hence God’s word charges us to be anxious for nothing.
