Vision 2020
5 years ago, 2020 seemed aeons away. Now, we're just a little less than 3 months before the big 2020.
What did you put off till 2020? Getting another degree? Writing a book? Making a baby? Getting married? Losing weight? Adding weight? A vacation? Starting that business? Sending out the application? Investment? Enjoyment? Whatever it is, 2020 is here! Make your move.
I'm going to share a couple of tips I find helpful in preparing for the new year.
Reflect. It’s human nature to always have your sights set on what’s next, but if you don’t appreciate what you’ve done then you’ll never appreciate what you do! Create a list of all of your accomplishments from the past year, big and small. Ask yourself the following questions:
- What was my greatest success?
- What was my biggest failure?
- What steps or decisions led to my success and failures?
- What would I do differently given the same set of circumstances?
- Who were the people worthy of my time and effort?
- With whom did I spend time where I received no value?
- In what ways did I not measure up to my potential?
- What will I most fondly remember about 2019?
- For what will I be rightly proud?
- What lessons did I learn in 2019?
Purge. Start the new year with a clean slate. Recognize your shortcomings and acknowledge your own accountability in the parts of your experience that left you unsatisfied and unkind to those around us. Forgive. Let go of every hurt. Forgive yourself too.
Commit. Make appointments that need to be made (hospital checkups, meetings with prospective partners, counselling sessions, court dates, driving class) now is the time to make them so they’ll definitely happen in the new year.
Declutter your space and upgrade your surrounding. Set a day aside to declutter your wardrobe.Take a look at the things you see and use on a daily basis and replace them if needed. Simple things like a new throw pillow, a table decor, a comfortable sofa, or a new journal can have a huge impact on how you feel about your life!
Ultimately, in preparing for the Almighty 2020, ask yourself these questions
* What are the areas I need to improve?
* Who and what are truly important and worthy of my dedicated attention in 2020?
* What lessons am I taking into the new year?
I hope you find this helpful! Cheers to an amazing 2020 🍻
What will you be doing to prep for the new year? Let me know in the comments!
