Gratitude

I woke up this morning with this song playing in my head. E lo ni mo san fun oba ogo, elo ni Jesu mi gba? E lo ni mo san fun oba ogo, fun ore re lori mi? (What have I done for the God of glory, what has He taken from me, for all His blessings on my life).

My heart is full of gratitude to God. His blessings in my life are innumerable. I thank him for the good, the bad and the ugly.

It’s easy for us as human beings to be grateful for all the blessings of God on our lives, but forget to be just as grateful for all that isn’t going well. Be thankful for where you are right now and not be resentful of where you thought you should have been by now. The will of God for us is to be grateful through EVERYTHING. We are to remain joyful no matter what is happening in our lives because we have the Lord, and in Him we shall overcome no matter what the devil is trying to do to us. We are not to become bitter over life's circumstances, but rather continue to rejoice in the Lord. It is the will of God for us to rejoice no matter what comes.

Sometimes, when you are alone slowly look around your home and NOTICE the things you have to be thankful for. Look at the pictures and thank Him for the memories that the pictures represent. Notice the possessions and thank Him for the ways He has provided for you. Thank Him that you are living in such a time as this. Look at the stains on the carpet or the furniture and remember the things that caused them.

In some quiet night sit in the dark and list as many things as you can in God's character that you can be thankful for. Remember where you were when He changed your life. Remember the times of crisis you thought you could not survive but did, by His strength. Recall some of the life changing lessons you have learned or some of the Bible passages that have become your foundation for living. Dare to think about the place that He is preparing for you and thank Him in advance for the riches He gives.

Constantly remind yourself and those around you that He is good, His love endures forever, and His faithfulness will never cease.
