You can have it ALL
"Everything you want should be yours: the type of work you want; the relationships you need; the social, mental, and aesthetic stimulation that will make you happy and fulfilled; the money you require for the lifestyle that is appropriate to you; and any requirement that you may (or may not) have for achievement or service to others. If you don't aim for it all, you'll never get it all. To aim for it requires that you know what you want." ~ Richard Koch
It comes from Chapter 11 of Richard Koch's book, The 80/20 Principle entitled: "You Can Always Get What You Want"
Having it all is a concept that will mean different things to different people. It's not about achieving the balance between career and family life. It's about how you feel within yourself rather than checked boxes. It's less about what you do and more about how you are doing it. For most, a sense of happiness and personal and destiny fulfillment are the drivers.
So, Here are a few rules to creating the life you want.
Be responsible for your life
Everything about you is as a result of what you do or don't do. Take full responsibility for your thoughts and actions. Stop blaming and complaining.
Why are you Here
Each of us is born with a life purpose. Identifying, acknowledging and honoring this purpose is the most important action to take. If you don't know what you're supposed to be doing, go back to your creator, GOD. Who best to ask for the purpose of a thing than the one who made it. Then tune in to the signals around you.
What Do You Want
We need to know what we want. We'll start with some simple questions:
- What's your ideal?
- What do you absolutely LOVE to do?
- What comes to you effortlessly?
- With whom would you love to spend your time?
- What would you be doing throughout the day?
- How much would you make?
- Where would you live?
- Would you like be able to create your new business?
Believe
Believe ALL things are possible. Believe in yourself. If you are going to be successful in creating the life of your dreams, you have to believe that you are capable of making it happen.
Never Underestimate the Power of Written Goals.
Write it down. A study done at Harvard Business School wanted to look at the importance of setting goals. They found 84% of graduates had no specific goals at all, 13% had goals but were not written down, and only 3% had clear written goals and a strategy to accomplish them. The results were shocking – the 3% who had written goals and a strategy were earning on average 10 times as much as the other 97% combined.
Isn't it a great relief to know that you can make your life what you want it to be? Grab your journal or a sheet of paper and write down what flows through you.
